Social media marketing hit my home town Chorley this week when my local newspaper, the Chorley Guardian, announced its arrival on Twitter. So far, I’m wondering what exactly the team are planning to do, as since I’ve been following them (@Chorley_News) there’s not been an awful lot of tweets!
My two ‘penn’th would be to suggest that they link the website up to Twitter to get out a regular stream of local news. But this news encouraged me to look for fellow Chorley social media geeks using the Twiiter search – this uncovered the Chorley Citizen (local free newspaper), Chorley Borough Council, a couple of local Councillors, Chorley Little Theatre and Chorley FM (yes, it really does exist!), but not many others.
Twitter search is a really cool way to find people, places or just to locate the social media buzz – simply type in whatever you’re looking for in the search bar and you’re away!
